Turcon® Roto L

Industrial seals and sealing rings are often used interchangeably, as they perform similar functions in preventing leakage in applications. However, there are some key differences between the two terms that many users are unaware of.

Frictionless energy savings

By sealing only when necessary, Turcon® Roto L reduces friction to reduce fuel consumption and save energy.

The Turcon® Roto L seal is the first active seal and is designed to extend seal life in shaft systems. Uniquely, it seals only when necessary. This reduces friction to reduce fuel consumption and thus saves energy.

The patented seal design combines a Turcon® M12 polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sealing lip with a rubber liner and a stably formed metal part. During downtime, the sealing lip is held lightly against the sealing surface to achieve zero friction performance. Seal wear only occurs when the pressure is activated, resulting in a seal life four times longer than, until the pressure is activated.

When combined with the zero friction that occurs when the seal is not energized, the result is a significant extension of seal life (up to four times longer).

Central Tire Inflation Systems (CTIS)

The Turcon®Roto L seal is designed to extend the life of central tire inflation systems by reducing friction and saving energy and fuel. This is achieved by sealing only when necessary during tire pressure adjustment.

Next generation solution for CTIS
The new sealing principle combines the known and necessary functionalities in a single component. Through an intelligent combination of materials and design, it is even possible to decisively improve known problem areas. Thanks to the elastic absorption of the sealing and guiding elements, any deflection or stress is absorbed by the guiding element and transferred to the static sealing point through the elastic absorption in combination with the gasket. This shifts loads from the more sensitive dynamic sealing edge to the more robust static sealing zone.
